In the celebration of Amanah Islamic Bank’s 46th year, AIB launched its General Islamic Investment Account (GIIA) and Trust Waqf Fund (TWF), where Chief Minister Al-Hajj Murad Ebrahim of Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) graced and showed his full support to the Bank.
Expressing his appreciation for the invitation for the important occasion, CM Murad recalled that Chairman and CEO Alex P. Bangcola is one of the first visitors in the new BARMM, where Chairman Bangcola made a presentation about the features and potentials of the Islamic Bank. CM Murad appreciated the presentation and saw the potentials of the Bank and hence he told Chairman Bangcola that AIB and BARMM should work as partners.
“As of this moment, we the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) are waiting for the information and activation of this intergovernmental Fiscal Board because that is where we can discuss our ultimate arrangement on how we can be partner with Amanah Bank. In fact, these include a possible ownership of BARMM to Amanah Bank. We will see to find a way that Amanah Bank will become a bank of Bangsamoro, so that is what we were looking forward. [sic]” the highlight of CM Murad’s speech where he received applause from the audience.
Also present in the launching are Dato Abdul Rashid and Ali Bin Ibrahim Al-Malki, Ambassadors of Malaysia and UAE respectively; Eduard Uy Guerra and Mohd. Shuaib Yacob, BARMM Ministers; ASEC. Mike Moslem and USEC. Ben Roque from the Department of Budget and Management and Department of Energy, respectively; the former and current members of the Board of Directors of the Amanah Islamic Bank, other dignitaries, government and private officials.
AIB, likewise extends its gratitude to those who unwaveringly supported the launching of the GIIA and TWF which aims to institutionalize humanitarian and charitable assistance programs that address poverty alleviation and sustainable growth in Mindanao, primarily in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Mindanao (BARMM).:
